WHAT'S YOUR QUESTION FOR ALLISON?
THE ANSWERS IN BLACK & WHITE
Hi Allison. My life is so busy with work and children I just don’t have time for a 10-step routine, but I still want to look after my skin. What’s your advice? Lisa
Hi Lisa, thanks for your email and I can totally relate as I’m sure many others can too! My advice, start a simple day and night routine using Mx Skincare and make it a part of ‘your’ routine.
My Tips are:
1. Keep Mx Cosmeceutical Foaming cleanser+ in the shower. Its quick and easy to cleanse face, neck and decolletage each morning and double cleanse at night to remove daily make-up and sunscreen.
2. Apply a Mx Cosmeceutical Serum+ (vitamin C or B3 morning, vitamin A or B3 at night) to face, neck and decolletage followed by Mx Cosmeceutical Moisture+.
3. Last but not least, finish with Mx Cosmeceutical Eye Cream+.
Once a week (I find Sunday morning a good time), take 15 minutes for a quick and easy masque application. The Mx Cosmeceutical exfoliate masque+ and/or the Mx Cosmeceutical Hydrating Masque+ applied to a clean face, neck and decolletage. Remove with a warm wet face cloth and apply Mx Cosmeceutical Facial Oil+.
The result is that you’ll feel great and your skin will positively glow with health.
Hi Allison I have really sensitive skin. I’ve tried lots of products and my skin seems to react to most products I use. What’s your advice on Mx Skincare for me? I need help. Sarah
Hi Sarah. Thank you for your email. I really understand what you’re going through as I developed sensitive skin when I was peri-menopausal, so Mx Skincare has been designed with sensitive skin in mind.
Mx Skincare contains no perfumes and no nasties (parabens, SLS’s etc) as these ingredients can irritate sensitive skin. Also, the active ingredients are at the correct percentages so as not to irritate sensitive skin and to protect and heal the barrier function of the skin.
Because sensitivity can be different for each person, I would recommend stating with a simple skincare routine and introducing new products one at a time. Reduce redness, reactivity and irritability with a skincare solution scientifically formulated to gently support sensitive skin.
You can read the Mx solution for Sensitive skin here.
I've been using the full suite of MX products - but something I don't really understand is the difference between the C and the B serums. Do I need both? Would there be a preference between one or the other depending on what I want to achieve with my skin. BTW (if it helps) - I am in my early 50's with pretty good skin - at least on the surface. I want to slow the signs of ageing any further as much as I can i.e. less obvious wrinkles via more plumped and hydrated looking skin. Looking forward to hearing from you. Anna
This is a great question Anna....the difference between Mx serums Vitamin C and Vitamin B3, and do you need both? The short answer is yes, you do need both, so let me explain.
Vitamin C and Vitamin B3 are both power player serums in the Mx Skincare line-up, and using the two in your skincare routine is a powerful combination. While there are a lot of similarities in skin benefits offered by both, they also differ. One example of this is the way they brighten skin. Vitamin C prevents the activity of an enzyme that is essential for the melanin production process, while vitamin B3 prevents the spread of existing melanin from the melanin producing cells to surrounding skin cells. Thus their impotence in repairing and preventing hyperpigmentation.
Individually, Vitamin C actively defends against environmental factors, stimulates collagen production and is also involved with the formation of elastin, hence its often referred to as the ‘firming ingredient’. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that combats free radical damage and boosts UV protection. It also brightens (and evens) skin tone.
Whilst Vitamin B3 is also a powerful antioxidant, it helps skin renewal and stimulates the production of skin barrier proteins and ceramides, keeping the skin strong, hydrated and plumped, making it less vulnerable to water loss. Together with reducing redness, blotchiness and sensitivity caused by exposure to the environment due to a poorly functioning barrier, Mx Cosmeceutical Serum Vitamin B3 has the added benefit of being formulated with two key peptides which help the skin function, promoting collagen production and increasing the skins barrier function.
And Mx Cosmeceutical Serums + are not just any serum. These key essential Serums are the product of years of development, with every ingredient supported by cutting edge science. Mx Cosmeceutical Serums + contain ultra-concentrated active ingredients, in particular, potent amounts of anti-ageing and anti-oxidant ingredients; Vitamin A, Vitamin B3, Vitamin C and Peptides. Meticulously formulated to work in synergy together, and blended into micro emulsions, they penetrate the skin easily and at a much deeper cellular level, thus delivering the very best results possible. And that is healthy, hydrated, glowing skin.
Thank you again Anna, enjoy and keep glowing!
Hello Allison, my name's Charlie and I want to know about Facial Cleansers. I always thought you had to really scrub your face to get it clean, but apparently that's wrong. My friend uses the Mx face cleanser and her skin looks great. What makes the Mx cleanser different?
Hi Charlie. Thank you for your email. Yes, scrubbing our face to get it clean is never a good idea and unnecessary. You don’t want to strip the skin of its natural protective barrier, this can lead to all kinds of skin issues.
The Mx Cosmeceutical Foaming Cleanser+ is gentle but effective and formulated for all skin including dry and sensitive types. Its free from harsh foaming ingredients that strip the skin. The foaming agent used in the Mx cleanser is derived from coconut oil, known for its moisturising and skin protection properties.
Antibacterial and hydrating, containing antioxidants and brightening ingredients, your skin is left feeling clean, fresh and hydrated.

Hi Allison. What can I use to stop my foundation from disappearing into my skin every day? I work in an airconditioned office long hours and I find I need to reapply regularly during the day. Thanks, Summer
Hi Summer. Thank you for your email and question. This must be so annoying and time consuming for you on a daily basis. One of the most likely reasons this is happening, is your skin is becoming dehydrated from being in an air-conditioned office all day.
I have a few simple tips that I know will solve your problem.
Firstly, start with a simple daily routine using Mx Skincare. (Read our skincare Tip, Skincare Routine for advice on this). By doing this, your skin will be prepared, hydrated and protected all day and wont ‘drink’ your foundation.
Secondly, add one or two drops on Mx Cosmeceutical Facial Oil+ to your foundation before applying each morning. Packed with anti-oxidants, hydrating and nourishing ingredients, not only will your foundation last all day, your skin will positively glow with health!
Hi Allison. Shaving every day my skin gets very red and inflamed and I'm at the point now I can’t bear to shave everyday. My partner hates my prickly face. Is there anything you can do to help me? Angus
Hi Angus. Thanks for your email. Your question is something I hear a lot and I most definitely have a solution for you!
Start with using the Mx Cosmeceutical Foaming cleanser+ for your daily shave. This soothing lather derived from coconut oil, is perfect for shaving and for sensitive skin. Containing no harsh chemical nasties (like SLS’s, parabens etc) which are often the cause of sensitivity and redness, it’s moisturising and hydrating leaving skin clean and fresh.
I would also recommend using Mx Cosmeceutical Serum Vitamin B3+. Apply this clear gel serum to face and neck after shaving (use it morning and night). This powerful anti-oxidant helps build proteins in the skin and locks in moisture to prevent environmental damage. It hydrates, treats redness and strengthens skins barrier function.
Follow with Mx Cosmeceutical Moisture+ to heal and protect and to seal all the goodness in. Your skin will look and feel so good!
Hi there. Are you adding a sun cream or what one do you think is best Allison? Carolyn
Hi Carolyn. Thank you for your email!
SPF is so important, especially here in Australia we need it every day. Mx Skincare will be introducing a sunscreen to the range however, it wont be until next year.
I use an SPF every day on face, neck and decolletage. Usually a tinted for face and clear for neck and decolletage. I don’t have brand I’m loyal to, however, I always look for brands that contain no nasties and are mineral-based and lightweight.
